Gladys Mercado

Tenor 1

I am a mother of three daughters, and grandmother of nine. I grew up in Jersey City, but I lived in the Bronx for seventeen years. In August 2001, I returned to Jersey City. I have been working for many years as an Intake Specialist for an outpatient facility in New York City. My true passion in life is music.

In high school I joined the chorus and participated in musicals.  In college, I joined the Lehman College Community Chorus, directed by Professor Battagalia. I performed in two musicals, ‘Working’ and ‘Looking Back’, directed by Professor Ryder and Mikie Grant, Lyricist, Composer, Songwriter and performer. I also worked with singer, ‘Felipe Rose’ (Village People), at his Tomahawk studio, as a backup vocalist and singer for a demo of a remix by Sade, “Your Love is King”. Later in life, I started singing in fundraisers, community functions, wedding events and so on. My passion is singing. I am happy and excited to be a new member of NRS, as a Tenor I.

Let’s make harmony!
