We’re so fortunate this season to have the pleasure and benefit of working with Conrad Chu. His deep and broad directing experience, his impressive conducting, teaching, and keyboard skills, and his focused yet relaxed and engaging demeanor in rehearsals make him the perfect person to help North River Sing build on what we’ve achieved since our formation in 2014.
Conrad has more than fifteen years’ experience leading ensembles of all sizes, including college choruses (for example, for ten years he served as the choral director at Eugene Lang College of The New School); community choruses (such as the Chinese-American Univoice Chorus of New York); and church choirs. He is knowledgeable and comfortable with repertoire ranging from Broadway to classical to folk to pop to religious music. In addition, his credits in opera and orchestral conducting are numerous and impressive, and they include several notable premieres.
Having earned his masters degree in conducting from Mannes College of Music in New York, Conrad is currently writing his dissertation as the last step in getting his Doctorate in Musical Arts from Bowling Green State University in Ohio. This has allowed him to return to our area. We couldn’t be more pleased that he’s now part of the North River Sing family.
